SADD President Allison Scherger

“This club only promotes great things and I am so honored to be president this year!”~ Allison Scherger

SADD, Students Against Destructive Decisions, is the North Pocono school district’s program to promote safe and healthy decisions.

Mrs. Morris, the new SADD advisor, took over Mr. Pettinato’s spot after he retired last spring. Since the club is one of the oldest ones in the school, Mrs. Morris is very proud of the support the club still received by the students to raise awareness on the topics. On October 12th, the members of SADD will be tying red ribbons onto students’ cars as a reminder to make good choices. The red ribbon is used as a symbol for the prevention of drugs and alcohol abuse and shows the commitment to drive safe. “I want students to make the right choices, and if this organization can help them to, that's its purpose,” states Mrs. Morris.

Allison Scherger, SADD member since freshman year and the current club president, explains the importance of bringing light to these topics by saying, “It isn't just a club about staying safe behind the wheel or not doing drugs, it is an organization that promotes leadership, recovery, and advocacy skills.” SADD is one of the first youth programs to recognize impaired-driving in students. Allison exclaims, “This club only promotes great things and I am so honored to be president this year!”

Before Prom this year, the SADD representatives are hoping to have a guest speaker to talk about the importance of safe and healthy life choices.
